Cyrtophora cylindroides is a Tent-web Spider.

These webs are aligned horizontally, with a network of supporting threads above them.

These spiders often live in colonies. Females have a body length of mostly about 15 mm.

Location - Kinabalu Lodge, Sabah


The Genus of Cyrtophora is Tent-web spiders. They do not build orb webs although technically classified under orb-web spiders (family Araneidae).

Cyrtophora spider's web is tent-like, highly complex non-sticky web is sometimes considered a precursor of the simplified orb-web.
